Bio Ajay Shah is the Director of Research Informatics and Systems at Beckman Research Institute, City of Hope National Medical Center, where he directs Discovery, Clinical Translational Research Informatics. Prior to COH, Ajay was Director of Research Informatics at Elan Pharmaceuticals in South San Francisco. His group was responsible for developing and implementing custom and commercial software for Cheminformatics, Bioinformatics, Assay Management, Compound Management, LIMS, etc. The highlight of his work is the unique integrated research informatics platform (RISe). Before joining Elan, Ajay was Associate Director of Chemistry Informatics and head of Compound Design CoE at Pfizer. Prior to that he held Manager, Rational Drug Design and ChemInformatics support position at Accelrys after starting his career as software developer for small molecule modeling applications. Ajay received his undergraduate degree in Chemistry from University of Bombay, MA in Chemistry from University of Scranton and PhD in Chemistry from University of Mississippi followed by a post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Arizona where he worked in AI in Chemistry Lab. Ajay also has an Executive MBA from the University of Arizona. Title: Extending tranSMART by Simplifying ETL and Integration with SPIRIT Scientific Analytics Platform Abstract We have implemented a curation tool prepares data (e.g., GeneExpression Ombibus) for loading into tranSMART data warehouse using tmDataloader. The tool allows data selection, reformatting, and, preview to generate raw data file, mapping data file and/or reference file. In order to facilitate data analysis, we have integrated tranSMART with City of Hope’s SPIRIT Scientific Analytics (SPIRIT SA) platform. The integration is achieved using a plug-in “tranSMART Connector” which utilizes web services. Based on a data pipelining platform, SPIRIT SA provides provides over two dozen algorithms for machine learning. SPIRIT SA also includes tools for data cleanup, normalization, validation and validation.
